IPL Photofacials

The medical and cosmetic industry has developed various methods for treating skin issues that most people will eventually suffer from at some point in their life, most likely due to aging. One of the latest and most popular skin care treatment options available today is the IPL Photofacial. Keep reading to learn why this procedure has become so popular.

IPL Photofacial Uses

The IPL photofacial treatment process is used to successfully treat a wide variety of skin issues, and this has made it a popular choice for patients seeking a solution to their skin care problems. Some of the more common issues include sagging skin, age spots, and wrinkles.

It is also used to lighten the skin of folks suffering from redness due to rosacea, brown blotches that are often found on the neck and face, and other skin discoloration issues. It is used for hair removal as well, and has recently become a popular treatment method among ophthalmologists for treating evaporative dry eye disease.

IPL Photofacial Procedure

IPL stands for “Intense Pulsed Light”. IPL is a non-invasive specialized laser treatment that is delivered via a handheld flashgun. If you’re receiving treatment for a skin disorder, you will be given a pair of special glasses to wear to protect your eyes. The area to be treated will then be covered with a cool gel. Once applied, your medical provider will then press the flash gun gently to your skin, delivering flashing pulses of light to the affected area.

The process is usually painless, but there may be a mild sensation some have described as being popped gently with a rubber band. Treatment can last between 30-90 minutes. When complete, the gel will be wiped from your skin, and a moisturizer will be applied.

Most people will require between 3-5 treatments to achieve the results they desire, and they are usually scheduled approximately a month apart.

IPL Photofacial Benefits

When performed by a qualified skin care specialist, the benefits will become apparent almost immediately as you watch the issue you’re being treated for get better with each visit.
